    We need more detailed rules....

When you draw a green Zoom card first, but have no actual blue number cards yet, do you wait until you draw the next card, to multiply? And can you wait for as many blue cards as possible to add them up, then multiply as a whole? Also, what happens when you get 2 green Zoom cards in a row, with no blue cards? Just multiply? Is there a sort of order of operations?

Thanks, Eleanor, for your review of the ZOOM!™ multiplication card game from TREND. As with any game, we have provided general instructions, but there may be instances where you adjust the rules – or make your own – to best suit your situation. That said, we’ll provide some suggestions based on your questions.

If the first card drawn is a green ZOOM!™ card, you can play a couple of ways. For simpler play, you can choose to put a green or red ZOOM!™ card or a BOOM! card back into the middle of the deck and draw again. Or, with no cards yet in hand, a green ZOOM!™ card would multiply the number on the green card times zero which equals zero, and the player records zero for the turn. If the card was the red ZOOM!™ card, again a zero is recorded and play passes to the next player.

Each player decides how many cards to draw – UNTIL a green, red, or BOOM! card is drawn. Risk it all and keep going for more points? Or play it safe with what’s in your hand (adding up the points you have on blue cards)? Once you draw a green, red, or BOOM! card, you (green) multiply and record your points for the turn, (red) record a zero for the turn, or (BOOM!) lose all your points and go back to zero.

One player wouldn’t have two green cards in a row (unless you add your own rules, saying you can keep playing a turn until you WANT to stop OR you get a red ZOOM!™ or a BOOM! Card). Drawing a green card would be the end of a turn. The next player, however, could then draw a ZOOM!™ card – which would then be a zero for the round (0 x the number on the green card = zero). Again, unless you want to adapt the rules.

We updated the packaging a couple of years ago and tweaked the game instructions. They're now available above in the 'How to Play' tab, in case you find them clearer. We’re always open to your suggestions for making this game better! Thanks again!

    Great game

Bought this for 5 yr old grandson. He loves math, especially multiplication. First game he had a big lead, almost at 500. Then he got the BOOM. He instantly broke down, very sad and upset. Once he had calmed down he came back to win. After a few games like this he was loving it. Great game. Had to buy a second one to keep at our house for the other grandkids.

Hi John! Your story sounds just like a flat tire on the final lap! The 'BOOM' card can surprise even the best of racers and helps learners practice probability and chance. Glad to hear your grandson is now loving the ZOOM! Learning Game. Thanks for all you do to make Learning FUN for your grandkids!

    It was great fun.

I did not like the booms or the zoom. Other than that I like it! I was the purple driver! It was great fun. I am nine and I think it is a good way to learn math.

Hi Oakley! Thanks for taking the TREND ZOOM! Learning Game for a spin! We're glad you thought it was (mostly) great fun! If you want, you could play without the 'BOOM' and 'ZOOM' cards and see what you think. Without those cards, you'll be getting addition practice but no multiplication. You may want to adjust the score goal - or decide the winner is the player with the highest score after a set amount of time. With practice, though, the multiplication gets easier! You'll be zooming ahead! Best wishes on your math practice, from your fans at TREND!
