Learning FUN Ideas

Enjoy these activity ideas for lots of FUN learning:

    1. Send a "Thank You" card to a community helper who inspires you! Have your kids draw a picture of their favorite community helper and add a simple thank-you message. Then, deliver or mail it to local helpers. Children will have loads of FUN completing this activity, and it will brighten the day of a courageous community helper!

    2. Take a field trip to visit a community helper! If a field trip is not possible, bring the field trip to YOU with an in-class guest or virtual learning. Find beneficial and educational videos on PBS and YouTube.

    3. What do you want to be when you grow up? Place all 16 posters on the wall, and have kids write their names on a piece of paper underneath a community helper that they'd like to be someday! Once completed, have a class or small-group discussion about their goals and dreams of helping out in their community. To extend the learning, have students write about a day in the life of a favorite community helper.

    4. Move around the classroom to learn about community helpers! Use removable colored tape to create a road for students to follow to different areas around the room. Place a bin of books, tools, and a poster from the set at each location to learn about favorite community helpers. Set a timer for 10 minutes for exploring the bins at each station. When the time is up, head to the next community helper station!
